Hi all,
Just received the ADP-054 adapter to burn M27C160 roms. Erased, blank verified chips (x2), but when I go to write to them I get a Failed error almost instantly. Tried 4 roms with the same method until I realized that there must be an issue with the burner.
Running software 7.09, Driver 3.0 (searches turned up a ton of similar cases, but no definitive resolution if this was a hardware or software problem)

So I have tried everything I can think of. Erasing the chips for more than an hour. Changing the jumper. Using the generic 27C160 settings. Added external power. Same result.
All check out blank. Go to write and after doing one byte it fails.
This adapter will not write to the chip. And don't get me started that all 14 of my chips are damaged...not likely. |

I have the same adapter and it works great on all 27c160, 27c322 so far. Make sure you're using the correct jumpers. |

What is your exact error message?

It says Write Failed at the same address every time. What jumpers should I be using? I have tried switching them on J1 and J3 but no luck |

Also I sent a batch of the Roms to a friend who burned them with no issue. So it isn't the chips |

I took a video, maybe there is something I am doing wrong. But have tried this 30 times with no luck.

Exact same problem as described, i did all same steps, with last software upgrade inclusive 7.11
Resuming (what i did / test)
Programmer GQ-4X4 Driver 3.0 Software 7.11, (supposed fix with ADP-054, 27C1024,27C160 unstable issue.?????)
I burned successfully just one 27c1024 with a bin file, but when tried with the same chip and other file have no success.
Worst problem is 27c160 / M27c160 (no success at all)
Using this config i have no success when verify, only positive thing is that now (or sometimes) i get 100% writing but no success at verify. (sometimes i dont reach 100%) Before upgrading software to 7.11 There always was Write Failed at the same address every time (after 1 second writing, inmediatly)
I tried editing de device list settings using vcc to 6.5v on 27c160 / m27c160 (it crashes the writing at 0% / 1 second...)
Last try a few minutes ago...
21576h_multi.ic27. ID check skipped Writing... Buffer Elapsed time: 2.80 seconds. Write failed, Address=0x0014FC, Buffer=0x12 Device=0x02
- Tried 2 different adp-054 adaptors - 6 different USB Cables - 3 Different Computers (usb 2.0 / 3.0 / Win 7 / 8 / 10) - Voltage Diagnostic ALL OK - J5 in V3 / V4 position and without the jumper too - Obviously J1 in 1-2 position. - 9V 1A power supply with correct polarity - UV Erase for 30 / 45 minutes - slow write -2 etc - Blank check OK - Reading OK
Using M27c160 Chips
ZLM please any suggestion? it looks like the "problem" with M27c160 family and 27c1024 is not solved with this software upgrade.
I have no idea what else should i try. |

Guys... now i tried 20 fresh m27c160 and all failed with the gq4x...
Now i have a chipmax 2 and ALL THE CHIPS were written OK at first try... so, its obvious the problem are not the chips, also... 2 054 adapters... both failing? i dont think so...
just in case, if you want to keep talking about this...
