I'm trying to burn/write (whatever it's called) a 27c801 eprom with a game rom with the extention .smc i've removed the header loaded in the MCUmall USB programer, i blank checked it (it was blank) i then wrote and verified it and all seemed to go fine. but when i enstalled it into a cartridge nothing will happen.

do i have to get the rom to a certain extention? like .bin or something? and how would i make sure the eprom wrote correctly before installing it?

edit: i have the GQ-4X, the eproms i'm using are 27c801-100

Most likely your data file is not correct.

Once the software report the chip been programmed and verified, then chip should be ready to use.

make sure your rom data file is binary if the extension is not in the software listed.

The software will load the data file as .bin file if the extension not listed in the software.

so may be a stupid question but can i just rename the extension from .smc to .bin or do i need special program or special procedures to change it to .bin?
