I've had a 4x4 for a bit and I've used it to program several EEPROMs. I have another one I need to program but I have a special situation. The chip I want to program is the Texas Instruments TMS27C240-10JL. That chip is a 40 pin DIP chip. The 4x4 only supports the TMS27C240. That chip is a QFN and requires the ADP-054 adapter. If I need to make my own adapter for the 10JL, I can do that, but I don't know how the pinout works for the 4x4. Also, can someone explain in more detail how adding devices to the device.txt works? I understand most of the parts, but I don't understand what things like "codesize". How does the codesize parameter work? Any help on how I can get this chip working with the 4x4 would be greatly appreciated!

Here is a link to the datasheet:

ADP-054 has a 40pin ZIP. The codesize parameter is the size given in the datasheet.

I guess my question is, do I even need the adapter? My 4x4 already has a 40 pin ZIF socket and the chip is a 40 pin DIP. Why would I need the adapter? If a couple pins don't line up to the pinout of the ZIF, I could just make an adapter board to correct those pins. What is the pinout of the ZIF? Is there anything I would need to know to make an adapter just using prototyping board, pin headers, and wires? Thanks

If you want to make it on a protoboard you will definitely need a schematic or figure out the 16bit logic yourself.
