Hi all:
I bought a few days ago enhanced JDM v1 (whith ZIF socket, 2 jumpers) programmer and ran to first. I did not have any problem until I tried external power. With 12v in correct polarity and jp2 with pins 1-2 shorted, the progammer is not going. If I remove the 12v and leave jp2 with pins 2-3 shorted, everything returns to work. Please, can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?. Thank you |

The 12V external VPP is not for power. It only to help with COM port has lower VPP.
If your JDM programmer is working fine without the external VPP, then you do not need that. |

Thank you for responding.
Ok, I already know, but, the programmer would not have to operate equally with external power and pin 1-2 shorted in JP2?. So, why Picpgm said "Device not connected" when in fact there is a 18 pins pic?.

There are different JDM programmer software available. They all use different way to detect the programmer. So, maybe the software bug causes this problem. |

I tested with Icprog, Wimpic and Picpgm. Allways the same. With external power, programmer don't work. |
