Just bought a TOP2005 to program AT28C256 and AT28C64B eeproms. When I load the 256 I get the error message "Trouble pin contact 16, 30". I load the 64 and get the error message "Trouble pin contact 16, 30 and 34". I used to use an M2L programmer for these devices and had no problems. M2L is not around anymore so I am trying the TOP models. Can anyone give me some ideas? Does anyone have or know of anyone who wants to sell an M2L programmer? I think they only had one model.
There are three possibilities: 1. the chip's pins are not clean. 2. the ZIF socket is not contacting well with PCB. Since it is a removable ZIF socket. You can remove it from PCB and reinstall it back. See if any differences. 3. the programmer is not working. To confirm this, try to read different chip, see other chip will report same message. If so, the programmer need to be repaired/replaced.
