Hi I'm trying to write a 95040 but the GQ-4X says verify failed. I was doing this with the chip still on the board. I then desoldered the chip and tried again and it's the same problem. I tried with speed 0 too. Does it mean the chip is damaged? Thanks |

make sure you erased the chip and passed blank check.
if it has no pin contacting issue, then most likely the chip is bad. Try a slower speed too. |

Hi Thanks for the reply.. What i normally do, open the file i need to write then click on "write", it usually works, but not on this chip. Are you saying i must erase and do blank check first? before writing?
Should i use auto mode? |

Hi again
I just clicked on "erase", and it says " this function is not supported on this device, or this chip does not need erase". Then i clicked on "blank check", and it says " chip is blank ".
So it looks like the chip is blank, so i tried to write on it again and it writes ok but then it says " verify failed ".
What do you think? |

I'm confused now!
On the GQ-4X, i tried many times to write the chip, and it keeps saying "verify failed". I tried with slowest speed -2 and it's the same.
then i tried my other programmer, Wellon VP990, and it worked, it read ok, write ok, verify ok.
I then tried again in the GQ-4X and it says "verify failed" and it won't read it ok, it comes with different file data.
Deos this mean my GQ-4X is faulty? |

Strange thing is that if I do blank check on GQ-4X it says "chip blank" but on VP990 it reads ok and is not blank. |

Try any other SPI chips, if the GQ-4X has same symptom, then the problem may come from the programmer. Otherwise the chip may have some compatibility problem. |
