I'm having a problem in writing to an AMTEL AT27C256R PROM. I keep getting a Write failed, Address 0x000000, Buffer=0x02 Device=0xFF error. I tried to write on 30 new chips. All of them can't be bad. Is there some magic to write on this chip?? Doesn't make a difference if I change the speed either.

EPROM Programmer software is 6.29 running under Windows XP.

Can you read the device ID?
Try with the latest software (6.38).
