Hey guys, and know many of us are looking for a fix for the boot block on these and compatible chips...As another has suggested here, if it were possible to add the instruction to the Willem software to disable the boot block, it would be a BIG help to program these chips...As for now, most of us have to use the Hotswap trick, and that's only if we have a suitable motherboard lying around to do it...
I have been given some info on another possible fix, maybe someone might have some insight how we could set this up using the Willem...Basically I was told that if 12V is put on the VPP/RESET pin then the chip would ignore the boot block and allow proper programming...There have been success stories doing this thus far apparently...How would we manipulate this on the Willem board easily?
Finally here is some info on getting into the lockout mode...
[05555],0AA [02AAA],055 [05555],080 [05555],0AA [02AAA],055 [05555],040 [02AAA],0AA
Then after:
[00000],0 - enable bottom block lockout [3FFFF],0FF - enable top block lockout
And the undocumented one: [02AAA],0AA - disable both top&bottom block lockout
Maybe the software guys can help implement this?
Here is the Winbond datasheet on it too.. http://www.winbond-usa.com/products/winbond_products/pdfs/Memory/w29c020c.pdf?PHPSESSID=f7c67c7a34a0644dbde89332b4fcf6c1
Thanks all, hopefully this can get fixed soon :) |

Thank you for your good information. I'm sure someone will modify the software. |
