Hi, I have some eeproms (29f016) that I cannot erase. When I try to erase, the software begins the process but after some point it shows a message saying that the chip is protected or don't need to be erased. I thought it was a bad chip, but it's happening with a lot of units. After some research I've found that all chips with this behavior seems to be locked. In the Gq-4x software if I click in the "lock/unlock" button and click in the "read" button the sofware reports this:
(00000H-0FFFF): Sector 0 is protected(0x 1). (10000H-1FFFF): Sector 1 is protected(0x 1). (20000H-2FFFF): Sector 2 is protected(0x 1). (30000H-3FFFF): Sector 3 is protected(0x 1). (40000H-4FFFF): Sector 4 is not protected(0x 0). (50000H-5FFFF): Sector 5 is not protected(0x 0). (60000H-6FFFF): Sector 6 is not protected(0x 0). (70000H-7FFFF): Sector 7 is not protected(0x 0). * END *
The good chips report all "not protected" for all sectors.
If I click in the "Unprotect" button the software seems to begin the unprotect procedure and all three leds turns on. But after some seconds all three leds goes off and the software freezes.
Someone knows what's happening? What is this protection stuff? There is a way to unlock the chips using Gq-4x?
