Hi all, i have recently purchased a Sega CDX console and am looking to replace the bios with a multibios (switched by pic chip) one as seen here

h**p://wolfsoft.de/wordpress/?p=478

As you can see in the link the original bios is a 40 pin surface mount mask rom which can be replaced with a 27c4096 eprom to allow multiple bios (Eng/Usa/Jap) or a single region free bios on a 27c1024. I know this works as i've done it before but its quite messy and i'd prefer to just directly replace the original chip.

So does anyone know of a 40 pin surface mount chip thats pin compatible with a 27c1024 or 27c4096?

Thanks for any help

27c1024 and 27c4096 are both available in SOP40 and TSOP40.

So i've been searching for these sop40 27c chips and cannot seem to find any.

Any chance of a link or part number to search for?

The original bios chip (big SEGA chip) can be seen in the image attached

Thanks for the reply and your help, i can find datasheets for the chips but cannot find any actual chips for sale in that package type. Guess i'll have to wire up the 40pin eprom instead.

Some specific chips and package sizes go fast. Try to find devices that used the particular chip you need, you can then scavenge the boards.
