Posted - 11/12/2007 : 00:19:05 Hi, I just received my new True USB Willem programmer. (TNX).
Already I have two problems.
1. The Software can not talk to the programmer. It coems up with the following errors.
- USB Read Failed # = 31. You need to restart the Software and Hardware.
So I do this and get the same error every time. :(
- My other issue is that the Zif socket supplied for the 42 Pin 16Bit adapter doesn't seem to plug into the existing IC socket of the board. I think the pins on the zif socket are too big to fit?
Do I just need to push harder? I am scared to break it.
I notice that since my order you have added an additional item where the Zif is preinstalled into the adapter. :(
Please advise on how to proceed?
I have tried all the normal stuff, reinstalling software etc. With no luck .-.-. [:

Posted - 12/20/2007 : 23:30:29 Hi, It looks like this problem may have been solved with the latest Beta firmware.
I don't have any details as to what was changed, or what the actual problem was (I would be interested to know).
But I have been running my programmer for many days now without any communications failure.
Before I would have had problems within minutes when trying to use it.
Good Work MCU Mall.
I would still like to encourage MCU mall to look into going away from the development driver (UZusb.sys) and going to the CYusb.sys driver.
But for now it has certainly made the programmer usable.
TNX .-.-. |

Posted - 11/14/2007 : 03:45:53 Hi,
It is good to hear that I am the first person to report this problem. Hopefully this means that it can be solved and is some sort of software issue perhaps?
The New computer has a number of USB ports. I have tried it on most of them with no results.
I treid it with the supplied cable. (Which I assume is suitable or it would not have come with the programmer).
I also have another cable here which is marked 24AWG/2C VW-1 80 deg C 30V E200088 USB 2.0C (It is used with a USB - RS232 Converter).
Still no results. Same errors.
What should I try next? .-.-.

Posted - 11/13/2007 : 20:06:29 This programmer should work on latest PC. You are the first customer report this issue. Did you try on a different USB cable? some USB cable may have problem. It is the best if you can test it on a good USB cable(such as USB 2.0 cable and with 24AWG code on the cable).

Posted - 11/12/2007 : 01:18:50 Here is some more info that might help with this bug.
I went back to the GQUSBprg 2.04 from the web site and I get the following errors. - USB Read Failed. Error # = 87. You need restart the software and hardware. - USB device error in USB Write Thread!
Both these errors come up at the same time in two seperate little windows.
My Computer is as follows.
Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3 Motherboard. Gigabyte GV-NX84G256H GeForce 8400 GS Graphics card. AMD AM2 Athlon 4000+ CPU 2Gig Ram (2x 1Gig Kingmax DDR2 Ram) Seagate 250Gig SATA Hard Drive Pioneer DVR-212 SATA DVD Burner
Windows XP Home edition.
Oh and yes the USB port works fine on this PC. Many other Flash drives, Digital camera's, Web cam's etc have been tested fine with this new PC's USB port. .-.-.

Posted - 11/12/2007 : 00:55:21 OK, I've got it to work on friends older PC's. It seems to be an issue related to newer (Current equipment) Basically any computer you would buy out of the shop today.
I am guessing it might be something to do with the USB 2.0 standard?? All the older PC's that it works with have the older USB 1.1 ports.
I hope this can be fixed with a driver update? Otherwise it's bad news for the design if it's not compatable with normal PC's. :(
Fingers crossed. .-.-.
