Posted - 05/14/2008 : 19:15:28 Hi everybody! I have some problems using my programmers! In fact I am a little bit confused on how to reprogram using GQ-3X. For example, If I want to reprogram a bios for an hp laptop, first I need to download the bios, but when I got the bios from hp, it is in the form of a self execute file I mean in the form sp*****.exe. If I try to load directly this file to the programmer I get on the blue side:4D 5A 90 00 03 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 FF FF 00 00 B8 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 F0 00 00 00 0E 1F BA 0E 00 B4 09 CD 21 B8 01 4C CD 21 54 68 69 73 20 70 72 6F 67 72 61 6D 20 63 61 6E 6E 6F 74 20 62 65 20 72 75 6E 20 69 6E 20 44 4F 53 20 6D 6F 64 65 2E 0D 0D 0A 24 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B4 16 99 84 F0 77 F7 D7 F0 77 F7 D7 F0 77 F7 D7 F0 77 F7 D7 E5 77 F7 D7 18 68 FC D7 Etc... And in the place of the............ I can read <<this program cannot be run on dos mode...>> and many other letters. My questions are: Is it good to reprogram this way? Or do I need to use a program to extract the bios file from win flash first? Please can anybody out there who has already successfully reprogram a hp bios using GQ-3X help me with a step by step on this matter, Many thanks to everybody who has contribute for this forum to exist And many thanks, to those who are going to help many.

1.Extract the .exe file you have to .bin file. 2.Run the software and connect the programmer. 3.Select a device from the device list which is your BIOS chip part number. 4.Load the .bin file into the software buffer. 5.Place your bios chip on the programmer ZIF socket and lock it. 6.Click ID button. It should report the correct ID. 7.Then Erase->BlankCheck->Write
