I got 32Mbit MACRONIX flash chip 29LV320CBTC and GQ-3X with the latest version 2.07 software.
When I look at the list of supported devices I see that 29LV320B and T is listed and needs TSOP48 in 8-bit mode. But when I read the chips content I do not get whats supposed to be in the chip (firmware).
I have a set of TSOP48 adapters including 8/16 bit adapter but I can not find any documentation how to set up the jumpers and if there are any additional address lines attached via wires. There are jumpers only for 29Fxx/28Fxx whereas this one is 29LV.
Or should I read/write it in 16bit mode? How to set it up?
I am confused, is that 29LV320C chip supported at all? USB programmer should support more chips doesnt it?
Please help me to flash this chip properly. I can borrow parallel Willem from my friend if the USB programmer is not capable to flash it..

Thank you.

Thank you, it seems to be working. I could not figure out those address lines, actually is there a document describing how to use each adapter? Its not really clear when which pins need to be connected via additional wires and such..

Anyway, thank you for your help. I got the dump out of the chip and now it does not consist of fragmets repeating so it should be right :)

This chip should be supported. Add following line into devices.txt :

Name="MX29LV320CB",ID="C2A8",Class="29LV320B",Category="FLASH",MFG="Macronix",Adapter="TSOP48 8 BIT Mode",VCC="3.6V",Message="Set the adapter to 5V jumper position.";

For the adapter connection setup:

1. Use TSOP48 8bit adapter.
2. Connecte three address wires between adapter and the programmer board. A19, A20 and A21 address lines.
3. Set the jumper to 29FXX position on the adapter.
4. Set the voltage jumper on the adapter to 5V position. The programmer will adjust voltage to 3V.
5. Place the chip in the socket and make sure the chip pin 1 is at the top-left conor.
6. Click the ID button from the software, you should be able to get correct ID. Otherwise you need to check all chip pins are contacted well in the adapter socket and contacting well adaper with the programmer ZIF socket.
7.Once you got the correct ID, then you should be able to read/write/verify the chip.
