I received the programmer today with the included FWH/LPC+ Adapter. When trying to program a SST49LF008A the device ID is returned as 494D (Hex). Unable to erase or write to the chip. Using the adapter with the PCB 5.0 parallel port programmer the chip is identified correctly and can be programmed.

Thanks for your help.

Edit Using the adapter in the USB programmer VPP is on and the other jumper is set to USB.

Fixed. Sorry to have wasted your time. Tried another 008A and was able to ID and read it. Put the first one back in and the correct ID was returned. Read, erased and programmed it. Don't know if it was bad contact at first or what. Although I did try at least 10 or 12 times removing and installing it in the adapter.

Thanks again

John

What is your programmer model?
Do you have any other chip to do a test on the programmer?
Did you try the adapter on the PC5.0? (not use adapter on the PCB5.0 board, use the new adapter and put it on the PCB5.0 ZIF socket).
Try to not push the chip too deep in the socket. This will make better pin contact.
