Hi there,

I have a GQ-2X programmer and I am trying to program an AM27C128 ROM. The programming seems to go okay until it reaches 51% where it fails. Reading the contents of the ROM shows that the data is being written twice and repeats itself at $2000 hence the failure half way.

Any suggestions?

Kind regards,

Francis.

Just tried another programmer, a GQ-4X, and this worked without a hitch so it looks as though I do have a defective programmer. :(

Reading an EPROM blown on the GQ-2X with the GQ-4X showed that the EPROM was blank from $0000-$1FFF, but $2000 onwards was filled with the data.

Thanks for all your help.

Kind regards,

Francis.

I would be surprised if there is a pin broken as the programmer board is effectively brand new. Still, it gives me something to look for.

I'll see if I can find a suitable IC that I can read from to see if that works.

Kind regards,

Francis.

try to read a good chip(you know the data is not repeated at $2000 in that chip).

See if the read result is correct. This is to confirm the reading function is working. If the reading does not work then the programmer A13 pin is broken.

Hi ZLM,

I've double-checked the DIP switches and they are okay (changing any of them causes the chip ID to fail).

Chip pin contact is also okay.

I've tried with a number of different AM27C128 EPROMs and I get the same result every time.

Kind regards,

Francis.

Check the DIP switch see if any dip position are broken.Espicially on DIP7 position. Also, check your chip pin contacting.
