Hi there im having probs getting the chip to ID or read its a MX25L6405 i dont have the adapter for it but i soldered each of the legs to DIL socket as i have shown in the pics below.

I have previously done this before with the smaller MX25L1605 and not had any probs but i just cant get anywhere with the MX25L6405,

Has anyone read/wrote one of these chips before or have any info? ive tried reading with the FFFF ID but it reads nothing.

Thanks

Your chip is not SOIC 8 pin chip.
It is SOP 16 (300mil)chip.

See:

So, your chip pins must be mapped to 8 pins pinout.
Currently we do not have direct adapter for this SOP 16 chip on GQ-4X. But you can do it youself.

Map following pins on your SOP16 chip to 8 pin pinout based on the same pin name between them:

1,2,7,8,9,10,15,16

example: pin 1 on your SOP 16 chip map to pin 7 on SOIC 8 pin chip.

Finaly, only 8 pins go into the programmer ZIF socket.

All other pins are not used on this SOP16 chip.

Ive ordered an adapter so ill wait till that arrives and then test it on a different modems spi chip

MX25L1605 and MX25L6405 should use exact same commands to access the EEPROM. So, if your connection are all good and correct, then change another chip and try again. All 8 pins should be connected. Use blank check to confrim read all FF.
