Posted - 03/16/2009 : 19:40:58 I understand that the GQ-4x is supposed to support ICSP but I'm not sure how to do it. None of the adapters appear to have an ICSP header on them, and there is none on the programmer itself. Where do you hook up an ICSP header to this programmer?
Thanks,

Posted - 03/17/2009 : 08:42:31 The ADP-056 is mainly designed for in-circuit-programming from GQ-4X. Such as SPI BIOS chip refresh, CPLD JTAG, PIC ICSP, AVR ISP programming. With this adapter, you do not need to open the cover to use ICSP header on the internal PCB. The internal ICSP header just for one more flexible point on GQ-4X.
Since there is no standard ICSP header pinout, so no standard ICSP cable. The ICSP always connet via a few F/F jumper wires. And this way can connect any ICSP header pinout. See: http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4244

Posted - 03/17/2009 : 06:52:59 Thanks a bunch, I would have ordered your $10 driver board with my GQ-4X if I had seen it. It's good to know that there is a header on the PCB though, I wondered about that since the old Enhanced Willem had one as well.
I'll place another order for your driver board in the near future, do you sell a ready-made ICSP cable as well?
Cheers,

Posted - 03/17/2009 : 00:35:30 There are three ways to do the PIC ICSP programming from GQ-4X.
1. Select a PIC chip, directly connect the ICSP wires from target board ICSP port to the programmer ZIF socket. This need to look the chip pinout and find out the correct pin slots on the ZIF socket.
2. Select a PIC ICSP mode chip, and then use a ICSP adapter. Connect ICSP port from the adapter to the target board ICSP port. See: http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4310
3. Open the GQ-4X cover and there is a ICSP pin header on the PCB board. |
