Posted - 05/29/2009 : 04:38:06 I'm running a GQ-4X with 4.01 software on vista32.
I notice when i use a 16F876A Pic the on screen display show a 32pin zif socket with adapter needed.
I have a 40socket on my GQ-4x , that makes it difficult to know where i have to put the PIC is there a workout for the software?

Posted - 05/29/2009 : 22:53:15 Thank you, but to my knowledge there is no 16F876A with 40 pins DIP so can i just change the existing one in the devices.txt to DIP28?
FYI these are 28P 16F873A and 16F876A following are 40P 16F874A and 16F877A
maybe good to correct these for a following sw version.

Copy and paste following line in to devices.txt and restart the software.
Name="PIC16F876A*DIP28",ID="290e0",Class="PIC16F877A",Category="MCU",MFG="Microchip",CodeSize="16384",EepromSize="256",Package="DIP28",PRG_MODE="0",BEGPRG_COMMAND="8",ENDPRG_COMMAND="17",ERASECHIP_COMMAND="1F",BEGERASECHIP_COMMAND="8",PAGE_WRITE_SIZE="8",CFG_PAGE_WRITE_SIZE="4",PINVCC="ZIF32_PIN28",Adapter="ICSP/PIC adapter+, no adapter required on GQ-4X";
Select "PIC16F876A*DIP28" from software. |

Posted - 05/29/2009 : 13:55:02 Yes i know , but the problem is that the PIC 16F876A is a 28pin chip and the picture shows a 40pin chip , so i cant know how to install the pic.

Posted - 05/29/2009 : 09:14:00 The GQ-4X does not need adapter for 16F876A 40 pin DIP chip.
If you connect your GQ-4X, the software will show you whare the chip should placed. If you chip is 40 pin DIP, then you can place the chip in to the 40 pin ZIF directly. |
