Posted - 10/09/2009 : 12:58:51 Hello everybody. I have the new GQ-4X programmer and I trying to write to 93C46EN. I use device 93C46 A and B. The programmer seems to read and even erase no problem but when I try to write it is not writing the file like I have it. For example I try to write 1390 in hex but I get 00 00. The weird thing is not in all positions, some write OK. I have the chip out of the board and I verified that it is not rotated. The chip was made by National Semiconductor (Fairchild now). Any ideas what am I doing wrong?
Thanks. |

Posted - 11/05/2009 : 10:04:26 I finally got this one figured out. The problem was with the chips I pulled from the board. I got new chips but was angry and somehow I could not program them. The next day I started from scratch and was able to program the new chips and additionally I was able to programs some used chips (the same as the pull outs) but the chip in question could not be programmed. So it was the chip not the programmer. I apologize for the whole thing.

Posted - 10/24/2009 : 14:37:04 Today I got 10 brand new 93C46B chips by Microchip. Unfortunately I was not able to program even new chip. Out of desperation I pulled out my old Enhanced Willem and it programed the chip no problem. So it looks like my new programmer is defective . |

Posted - 10/11/2009 : 12:01:44 I successfully read, erased and written chip marked 93C56EN (off board). At this point I think I have defective chip. I just realized I didn't short the rite oscillator on the board so this maybe my problem. I'll try to get new 93C46 and see how it goes and post results.
