Hi, having had a Willem dual power programmer( see forum under novice 2716 on page 4 ) that never did what they said it would do. Even after modifications to the power supply buy a knowledge person from the forum it failed to support 2716, 2732, 2764 as I originally needed it for.
I see over time that some of these issues may have been solved. I'm considering the True-USB Willem GQ-3X as it shows support for the 2716 up to 25vpp. Can anyone whom has bought the GQ-3X verify that it will handle the 2716, 2732 etc. These chips are used in the older pinball and arcade games.I have an external power source good up to 25v that was bought for the last programmer. I would rather put my money into having someone burn me the chips required than have another paper weight.
Thanks
Mark Leigh

Both GQ-3X and GQ-4X do SUPPORT 2716, 2732, 2764 EPROMs. No doubt, they are supported since the first version of programmers.

There are more than one factors will cause programming chip fail. Not only the programmer itself.

It could be one of the following:

1.The chip is not a good chip.
2.The chip is not erased completely.
3.The chip is not contacting good with the programmer.
4.Wrong part number selected in the software.
5.The computer may not provide enough USB power. (Use a external power adapter will fix the problem0)
6.The chip is not correctly inserted in the programmer ZIF socket.
7.When a adapter used, the adapter may have some problems.
8.Wrong software speed selected.(change the speed and check the Double Write check box)
9.The USB cable may not good and causes the power and signal lose.
10.The programmer is defective.
11. There is a software bug on this chip and it is not been discovered yet.
and more ....

Many pinball game machine users use this programmer for their 2532, 2716, 2732, 2764 EPROM programming.

You have one year time to test the programmer. If you suspect your programmer is defective, you can send the programmer back to MCUmall for checking it up for free. MCUmall will make sure the programmer is working before send it to you. That is a good things.

And just because it doesnt work for you now, doesnt mean it didnt over a year ago.

Just because they show up as supported doesn't mean that they are. I have a GQ-4X and it will not write to a 2764A chip, even though it says it will. No response yet from customer support.

Not only has this purchase been a waste of money, but a waste of time as well.
