MSI PR400 Laptop

I am trying to flash a laptop bios that failed a regular bios flash. based on the schematics there is two 16m spi flash chips.
I took the laptop apart and found the amibios sticker on top of two MX 25L1605 AM2.
one chip had a red mark(left) and one blue mark(right)

now here's where it gets strange. I used a soic8 clip with my GQ-4x and the red chip no response, the blue chip would respond to the identify.
i read and its all FF on the code. so i write and verify. most of the time the writing would freeze at a %. once in awhile I can get it to write to 100% but verify would fail.

So i remove the chips from the board and now both chips wont respond to the ident command. i thought i fried the chips while de soldering it. so i put it back on the board, now im back at step one. only the blue chip responds to ident. any clues how i should proceed this? why does the right chip respond only while being on the board? i took off the cmos battery so the chip isnt running off some other power source.

the bios file's extension is .10D the version number. a little research shows that amibios are .rom. so i renamed and imported it correctly to the usbprg.
messing up the laptops bios made me buy the programmer. I am learning a lot and programmed bios' for my desktop computers. Its nice to know i can mess up on a bios flash and be able to fix it.

this laptop is the only thing killing me lol.. any suggestions?

just a small update. I dont recommend the clip at all. it seems the easy path to just clip and program. but on a small laptop motherboard, it is very difficult to get the clip on correctly since other components are very close. I have triple checked connections but it wasnt on correctly. I desolder, and used an adapter, then the chip read and program fine.. operator error i guess.

okay i fiddled some more with it.. so here's where i'm at.
i resolder the chip back on the board. I can id, erase, read and write. the read gives me all 'FF'
so my writes goes to 100% but it always fails on the verify since the read is all FF.
do i have a faulty chip?
i double check connections and since it id correctly i assume all connections are good?

You still need to check the pin contact with your clip. even it is been removed from the board.

Also, try to useslower speed to see if it makes different.

soic8 clip is new and identifies the chip properly when the chip is onboard. the problem is when i remove the chip and place in on the clip.. i dont get an ident reading. side note it sometimes fail to ID the chip after a few successes.

Clip for soic-8 probably have bad pin connection. What is about ID-correct?Secondly, better blow out chip by hot air, then try read, save, erase, then write, verify.
