I have a GQ-4X and have tried 3 different adapters for 32 pin PLCCs.

The latest one was specially ordered from MCU. It is a clam shell that encloses the entire chip.

I have an ST 29F010B PLCC. I can erase it and confirm with blank check. Every time I try to write a 128k file, the write seems to complete ok and the verify always failed. I have tried this with another chip and have reset the chip in the adapter and the adapter in the GQ numerous times.

In addition to using ST to define the ID, I have also tried the generic chip offering with no success.

My plcc issue first began, trying to read ST 29F020B chips.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you,

Paul

The adapter seems OK.

Try to slow down the speed.

The clam adapter has a part number on the bottom that I missed "CNV-PLCC-EP1M32"

Yes, the address where the verify fails is random.

I have tried the adapter that came w the programmer, I have an open ZIF version and I purchased a clam style adapter from MCU ($65 w 2 week lead time) in hopes of resolving this. The first 2 worked fine up until recently. Last nite I tinned the bottom and sides of the 32 pins w no success.

I had difficulty with ST 29F010B chips and they turned out to be fine with another programmer.

The socket on the programmer seems to close fine on all pins and, as you suggested, maybe something is wrong with this connection.

Any ideas on how to improve the programmer/scriptdapter connection?

Does it fail on a same address or randomly? What is your adapter part number? check the pin contacting between chip-adapter-programmer.

After selecting chip ID, I hit chip ID and the correct one is displayed.

After erasing, blank is good. After a failed write/verify, blank check always fails; suggesting there is data on the chip.

As I know those PLCC32 chips should work with ADP-062 and ADP-005.

Are you able to get correct chip ID? how do you know if the chip is erased correctly?
