The AT29C040A devices I have already have code in them and I need to erase them. I run erase from the GUI and I get the response:

Erasing...
Elapsed time: 0.36 seconds.
Erase completed.

But when I read the device or do a blank check, it still has data in it:

ID check skipped
Blank checking... Code
Elapsed time: 0.15 seconds.
Device blank check failed at address: 0x000000, Read= 0xF3.
Blank check failed

And the data:

So it seems the blank check is working.

How do I unlock the device so I can erase it?

Any body have any clues?
John
