Posted - 12/02/2006 : 01:35:26 I received the unit, looks good and I successfully write a file to the supplied 27512 chip. I put several 27256 and 27c256 chips in the UV eraser for 35 minutes and try to write to them, no luck. Here is the process and error I receive: Erased 8 chips, 3 different manufacturers Select device in software (tried several including generic) Verified DIP settings Load device, check ID, looks fine Read chip, looks blank to me Did blank check, software says device is blank Load .bin file to buffer, file is the right size, looks good Try to write file to device (at several different speeds) Using several different chips and files, always receive message "Device write failed at address 0x000000 Buffer=0xf6 Device=0xff" (sometimes the last 2 digits of the buffer vary)
I can write to other devices but not these 27256 series. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!!

Posted - 12/03/2006 : 06:13:37 Round two of this issue: I finally got tired of trying obvious things to fix this problem, so I decided to test the dip switches and ensure they were working properly. Much to my suprise, I discovered DIP #6 was inoperative. I jumpered it manually and the unit now writes fine. |
