Posted - 11/01/2012 : 15:14:15 This is a new unit I received this week. I am running USB Programmer version 6.17B on Windows 7 64-bit. The driver installed fine and when I plug in the USB connector it installs. The first time I ran the program it started up fine.
I tried to set up the hardware to work with an ATMEL AT28C64 EEPROM and write some dummy data to the chip but it didn't work properly. So I tried shutting down and restarting. This time the unit thinks there is supposed to be a chip still installed and then hangs. Of course, if I leave the chip in and start the program it stops and asks me to remove the chip and try again.
I have tried uninstalling a re-installing the software but it seems to be something with the hardware. Is there an internal jumper for resetting the hardware to default settings?

Try change to another USB cable and see if it makes different.
I tried another cable, made no difference.
I tried another computer, also running Windows 7 64-bit. This time it loads up once and the device location graphic shows nothing installed. I chose a Dallas DS1230AB (new part). I install the unit and try an erase operation. It goes to 100% then stops, I press cancel but the program doesn't respond. When I reboot andtry running the program again I get the same problem as before, it just hangs after running the softwre update check. Is there some step I am missing? |
