I'm trying to do ICSP for a midrange PIC (16LF1824) using the GQ-4X.
I originally ran jumper wires from the ZIF socket itself, and that worked - however, I started seeing some problems that I thought might be due to signal integrity.
I bought an ADP-056 adapter, but I'm a bit stumped as to how to use it. I've tried inserting it at a variety of offsets within the socket, but none of them seem to produce an ICSP signal on the output.
Is there a 'correct' position in the socket for the ADP-056, or does it depend upon the chip?
I see there are variants of some PICs that have ICSP in the name, but not for the model I'm using. Do I need to add one? If so, how?

Yes, using a lower speed works; I needed to drop 2 steps for my ICSP cable (around 200mm), although I was hoping for a higher speed.
I still haven't been able to get anything out of the ADP-056. I suppose it could be faulty, or just not designed to do what I thought it would.
Back to jumper wires, then.

Posted - 12/14/2013 : 22:35:13 The ADP-056 should place at the lower end of ZIF socket of programmer.
I think for the PIC ICSP, the ADP-056 just does a simple adapting, not process any signal.
If the ADP-056 does not work, then you still can ran jumper wires from the ZIF socket itself. Try to use different speed from the software.
Most likely, if you can ID the chip, then it should work. But try to use the wire as short as possible.
