Hello. I have bought a GQ-4X specifically to program some M27C160 eproms as our All-100A won't program them (but will program the other chips I need).

The files we have sent to us come in a '.hex' format and are 4.81Mb in size. If I load these files into the GQ software they can be programmed into the M27C160 but when fitted into the circuit boards they do not work correctly.

I have found that if I read some existing M27C160 eproms and then program the 'read' files into the new M27C160 these work correctly. Further investigation has revealed that if I load the '.hex' files into the All-100A software and then save the contents of the All-100A buffer to a new file I get a '.bin' file of 2Mb in size, loading this into the GQ software and programming it into the M27C160 results in a correctly programmed eprom.

When loading the '.hex' file in the GQ software I have tried all the various options, for read mode and fill mode with no success.

If I load the '.hex' file into the GQ programmer and compare (verify) it to a known good eprom, the verification fails at the exact same address the message being: Verify failed, Address=0x020000, Device=0x2B, Buffer=0xFF. I have tried this with four different known working eproms each being programmed with four different '.hex' files. Each of the verification checks fail with the same error, at the same address with the buffer each time returning 0xFF and the device returning the value from that address. I'm assuming that loading the '.hex' file is failing, possibly due to the large file size (4.81Mb).

Is there a way of getting the GQ software to correctly load the '.hex' file without me having to load it and then save it in the All-100A software first?

Hello.

I wonder if you have any further information regarding this problem please?

Many thanks, I have emailed you a copy of one of the '.hex' files that is causing problems.

I think it either the hex file or the software loader has problem.

Please send us your hex file, so that we can find the problem.

You can send it to support@mcumall.com
