The GQ-4X accepts all old Willem adapters.
On GQ-4X, if the old adapter needs to connect extended adress lines A19,A20,A21, then the extended pin header is needed on GQ-4X.
see:

There are new version adapters are availbe to avoid those extended address lines on GQ-4X. Such as TSOP48 16 bit adapter V2.0. The price is same as old TSOP48 adapter.

The 8/16 bit TSOP48 adapter does not mean it supports 16Bit mode only chip. The 8/16 bit means it supports the 16bit chip with 8 bit read/write mode. All those chips need to have 8 bit mode to read/write. Such as 29LV160, 29LV320.

The 16 bit TSOP48 adapter supports only 16 bit read/write mode chips. Such as 39VF1601, 39VF3201.

Here is the new TSOP48 adapter V2.0 on GQ-4X. There are no extra address lines needed.
