i notice the comparison table says the GQ-4x has full support for hight speed spi devices where as the GQ-3x only has partial support

can someone confirm if the mx25L1605A is a high speed spi device as the datasheet doesn't seem to be very forthcoming and if so what kind of read / write speed improvement can be expected on the gq-4x

also are there any plans to incorporate broadcom bcm3348/3349 support into the gq-4x jtag

thanks

Both GQ-3X and GQ-4X supports high speed SPI flash devices. When reading and writing a high capacity SPI flash, GQ-4X is able to use fast mode, but GQ-3X will take longer time to complete the job. So, some high density SPI flash chips only in the supported list of GQ-4X.

GQ-4X is able to support mx25L1605A. Currently we are waiting for the sample testing chip for the final testing before formally release the software.

Currently I do not have information on when to support BCM3348 JTAG.

if you need a mx25L1605A i can send one over, the settings in my other post work on the GQ-3X but take around 40 mins to write the chip, which is actually slower than the cheap ebay parallel programmer :( - if the GQ-4X can write faster than this i will have no hesitation in upgrading to the GQ-4X

BCM3348/9 are supported via ejtag in the blackcat jtag software from tcniso using a simple 74ls244 based paralell port programmer, i can send you the software / programmer schematic if needed, if the GQ-4X could support the 3348/3349 it would bring a large number of sales as that cpu is used in virtually every cable modem and set top box in usa and europe

If you can send us a sample chip, then we can add this chip in GQ-4X list for fast read/write quickly. Please write to support@mcumall.com for the mailling address.

The GQ-4X read/write SPI flash is faster than GQ-3X. The current software is 10-12 times faster than GQ-3X. The speed can be further optimized in the future software release.

It is possible to support BCM3348/9 chip on GQ-4X. Because the GQ-4X already supported the JTAG. It only needs some times to implement the software.
