Hi,
I am on Windows Vista and I use a GQ-4x bought 2 months ago. I recently started using EPROM of type AT27c080.
I successfully wrote on AT27c080 3 times, using the general device '27c080' but suddenly it stopped working. Whatever I try, I get errors.
If I try a blank check, I immediatly get this error (whatever I set the speed to):
Blank checking...Code Memory Elapsed time: 0.46 seconds. Device blank check failed at address: 0x000000, Read= 0x00. Blank check failed
If I try to write, I immediately get this error (whatever I set the speed to):
Writing... Elapsed time: 2.58 seconds. Time:01:23:01 Write failed, Address=0x000000, Buffer=0x78 Device=0x00 Write failed
When I try to read the data, it doesn't make errors, but everything is 00. I tried with over 10 different chips of type AT27c080, I always get the same result, I doubt I have over 10 chips failing on me.
Do you guys have any idea what is wrong? |

1. Did you erased the chip? 2. Does the VCC red LED on when you read the EPROMs? 3. It seems the ZIF socket lost VCC when read/write. When doing read, check the voltage on 27C080 pin 16 and pin 32 to GROUND(USB plug metal shell). |

Q#1: Did you erased the chip?
A#1: Yes I tried to erase all the chip, multiple time.
Q#2: Does the VCC red LED on when you read the EPROMs?
A#2: Not it doesn't, only the light for the LED 'ON' stay lighted up, both VPP and VCC stays off.
Q#3. It seems the ZIF socket lost VCC when read/write. When doing read, check the voltage on 27C080 pin 16 and pin 32 to GROUND(USB plug metal shell).
A#3: I'm not extremely experienced with using my multimeter, so I'm not sure I took my measure correctly. I've set my multimeter to test 20V and I placed my check on the pin 16 and on the metal shell of the USB plug that is connected to my laptop (and not the one connected to the programmer). I get these measure:
Pin 16 -> Metal shell of USB plug When reading: 0.09 When not reading: 0.08
Pin 32 -> Metal shell of USB plug When reading: 2.04 When not reading: 4.37 |

I think the programmer needs a hardware service. Please write to support@mcumall.com for product warranty. |
