I have bought GQ-4X few month ago. After installing drivers and software on my PC, it recognizes the programmer. When I tried to read EEPROM, it hangs. After restart it recognizes programmer and even read ID of EEPROM, but ID wasn't the walue it should be. Then I got out of sync error and decided to try programmer with my laptop. The software works much more stable, but I still was unable to work with PLCC/DIP eeproms. Reading of EEPROMs gave various results, ID of EEPROMS often was read worng. However, working with TSOP EEPROMs with rised voltage (TSOP40A adapter, 3.6V jumper open) was a delight - all the EEPROMs recognized and successfully flashed. Since I had an old Willem programmer, I have flashed DIP/PLCC eeproms with it. Now this old programmer is gone, and I have to do everything with GQ-4X. After multiple trys I have found out, that pressing on one side of ZIF socket forces programmer to successfully read ID and even write PLCC EEPROMs. So, I have two problems - how to get the software work with my PC (WinXP, freshly installed) and how to make programmer work with PLCC EEPROMs without pressing on socket?

If you used a PLCC/DIP adapter, then adapter may have contacting problem. Check adapter each pin contact with programmer ZIF or replace the adapter.

The software is developed in Windows XP. So, it should work with XP without doubt.

I have tried both PLCC and DIP chips, the result was the same. I have figured out the problem - the ZIF socket is not soldered to the board and there was a bad contact in that connector. I have take it away and put back for some times, and now it seems to be OK. Hovewer, the problem with software stability on my desktop still exists :(

The software does not know what your computer is. So, it shold work same way. Do you use same USB cable? Any USB hub on desktop?

Yes, I understand that software doesn't cares about computer, but it hangs for some reason. I use the same cable, no HUBs at desktop. GQ-4X connected to the rear side of PC(directly to the MB, no extra cables).

After reinstalling windows I downloaded the latest software from this site, it is 4.03. So I think the problem is within my desktop, but have no idea what it could be.
