I just purchased a GQ-4X and cannot get my chip to ID.

I have checked the pins, I used the TSOP40A adapter plus the address header set to A19, no luck.

I have a TSOP48 holder, is that the issue?

When I ordered my set it told me that the TSOP48 works with TSOP40. If I cannot get the chip to ID then I cannot get it reflashed.

Support for this device is very poor. No need to say that the program works with this item. I keep getting 8 different IDs and not a single one is the one for this device. Poor, poor, poor.

The SST29VF080 is a verified chip on GQ-4X.

It seems you have a old version TSOP40A adapter. But that is not a big problem as long as you use a address header ADP-053.

The TSOP40A base baord comes with a TSOP48 ZIF socket board ADP-077.

If you can not get the correct ID, then you need to check the pin contacting, chip orientation and adapter contacting with programmer.

Use a magnify glass to check if all chip pins are well contacted with the ZIF socket.

Every time I check it I get a different ID. I have come up with 8 different IDs on 8 different chips that all read SST39VF080.

If I cannot get the ID, I cannot even start the process to get to a failure in the programming.

How can this be old style? I bought it in 02/2010 from MCUMall.com.

I used a magnifier from the start and checked the pins are clean of solder.

So where do I go from here?

The latest version adapter has build-in 74HC244 driver chip.
see: ADP-082

Write email to support@mcumall.com, your adapter is still under warranty I think if you just bought it.
