I recently switched from the old parallel port willem programmer to the true USB version. I had no problems with the old programmer on the 93C46 chips.
When I try to read a 93C36 chip on the true USB programmer, I get lots of FF's in the data that shouldn't be there. When I try to write a known valid file, I get a verify error. I've tried both the 8 bit and 16 bit devices and no luck.
I'll add that I have no problem with C46CM6 chip (using the device set to 93C46).
Anyone have a clue? I'd go back to the old programmer, but I sold it.
The chip is not in the tested list. However, it should work since it has no special pinout. Can you confirm the chip is a good chip? Do you have second chip for testing?
I have tried 3 different chips and cannot properly read or write any of them.
These chips come from Porsche/Ferrari remotes. Some have C46CM6 chips and others have 93C46. The C46CM6 chips can be read no problem. For some reason the 93C46 cannot. I've read the same exact chip (from my car) in my old programmer before I sold it and got good data. I can't get good data from that chip in the USB programmer.
I also noticed that the ID function doesn't work for this chip. I know that was always a big deal with some of the other chips I've read.
