Can the GQ-4X support this chip?

Yes. It should be supported. Select MBM27C1001 from software. They are compatible devices.

so that would explain the discrepancies in the data that was read.
had huge chunks of FF in it. i had assumed that it was bad so i
was searching for replacement.

so no way to read this at the moment unless i swap 2/24 and read with MBM27C1001 settings ?
i may try that later see what happens.
