I just upgraded to Windows 7 64bit which does not support my old BP Microsystems parallel port programmer. I got a GQ-4X to replace it. I have the USB driver and software installed and have successfully read and programmed a 27C512 EPROM so I know the software is OK.

What I really need to work with right now is 24C01 serial EEPROM chips. When I read one, it partially works, but the data is shifted forward by 16 bytes (i.e. byte 17 is at the beginning of the buffer) and the first 16 bytes are shifted to the end of the buffer. When I try to program the chip, nothing is written and of course, it fails to verify.

I have tried with and without an external 9V power supply.
I have run the Voltage Diagnostic which passes both with and without the external power supply.
I've tried a different USB cable
I've rebooted my PC.

Is there something else I should try? Is my programmer broken?

Kevin

programmer should be OK. I think it is related to the software. I will take a look on this.

Just to update this thread. I contacted tech support and was given a link to a new software release Re.14 and was advised to set the speed to -1, this works OK for me. Great support
