I just received TSOP adapter ADP-077, and I have a question: How exactly does the chip seat in the adapter? Are the legs supposed to just balance and sit on the pins? I've tried for a while and the legs just want to slide between the pins. How do I make sure good contact is made when any downward force just pushes the chip off the pins?
That doesn't answer my question about how the chip's legs are supposed to make contact with the adapter.

I don't want to screw something up because I had the legs sitting on the connectors instead of in-between, or vice versa.
BTW I am trying to program AM29F032B*TSOP40 on GQ-4X with ADP-077 and 082.
