today it is doing strange things

Prior good chips are showing up as being filled with wierd data
like all 00, 7f, etc. These are EPROMS that where known good eproms

and it seems to be damaging them.

I will need to put them in the device that they fit to see if they truely ruined.

This is the USB version GQ-2X

No parallel port needed

Was working before
I was able to check some EPROM's last night.

the problem started earlier today

Yes software see's the device

No the Red LED stays off

I thought maybe the DIP SW was going bad, so I tested them with DMM
all when on test ok and all when off test ok.

where do I find info on what the switches do?

Just for a check, only because i remember the 24C16 only needing one switch on
I set the device to 24c16 and had the programmer read an empty socket, i didnt get a red light

tried a 27c512 read this time
No LED and no Vcc at Pin 28

when I do a voltage test on one of the programmer's IC's the computer acts like the programmer was disconnected and reconnected
also the green light goes out while the test leads are connected
and no there is not a short in the DMM

1.24 vdc diode left end
1.66 vdc diode right end
1.66 vdc or so at U3 pin 6
