Steps for copying an original chip to another blank chip: =====================================================
1, Remove any chip in the ZIF socket of programmer, let ZIF socket handle be released. 2, Connect the programmer to computer. 3, Start the software 4, Select device type.(example:D27C256) 5, Insert the original chip in ZIF. 6. Click "Read" button from tool bar to read the chip. The data should in the buffer now. 7. Click on "Verify" button to make sure the chip is read correctly.(It should say the chip is verified) 8, Select menu "File->Save as.." to save the buffer dat into a .bin file. This step you can skipped if you do not want to save the data into a file. 9, Insert the blank chip in ZIF. 10. Select device type again if the new blank chip is different type.(example: M27C256) 11, Do a blank check to make sure the new chip is blank. 12,Click on write.

Thanx for the Ans.
But i Mean Different .Whatever you wrote is same as other chips. for a detailed Q. iam uploading GQ Snap which i take while making a Copy of PIC16F72 Chip.
Image Insert:
183.56 KB
Now as you can see this backup has 5 TABS (FIVE TABS) Instead of Two. while reading a normal chip we only have two tabs like Message & CODE. But when i read a PIC chip i will have total five TABS like Message , CODE , Blank , User ID & Configuration here i can't understand that - if i make a backup (save the file in BIN Format) then will i am making the backup of all tabs ? - what is the meaning of all TABS - can i make changes in these windows & if yes then are they permanent? |

From the picture, your chip is not been detected by the programmer. That means your chip may be bad or not placed correctly on ZIF socket.
All tabs indicated the avalible datas on this chip.
For this particular chip, it has code memory, User ID memory, and the configuration word memory. The blank tab indicates theis chip has no EEPROM data.
Ye. If you do a back up this chip, all data should be backuped. |

Yes this chip is not yet Supported by the GQ-4x Programmer & i asked to add the support for this Chip a few months Ago. (Top 3100 Supports this PIC Chip, But it's off the topic)
will i have to make the Backup of each & every tab One by one ?
or by just making a single file i will have all the chip code in one file on my computer ? |
