Is there a way to protect the code on a 24C256L, read loads of these in the past but had a couple now that i cant read in circuit, could the circuit be a problem ? or can it be protected ? |

check you 24C256L chip address pins. The software can change the address by click the CFG button. |

Thanks, tried another chip from a different panel today and the same. Just looked at CFG button and it gives me 3 options will have a read. |

If your board CPU controls this chip, then you are unable to read/write the chip while the CPU occupied it. In this case you need to de-solder the chip and program it on the programmer ZIF socket. |

I tried a different chip from the same but older panel that has a DIL socket for the eeprom, removed it and tried to read it all blank again. |

Just dusted of a old serial programmer, and used IC Prog to read this chips without a problem, can something have gone wrong with my GQ-4X never had issues before. |

If your chip can be easily removed from the board, then you can just program it on the programmer. That should not have problem. |

The last one i tried was socketed DIL so easy removed, tried in GQ-4x nothing then as per post 7
could i have changed something in the software ??? |

In oder to change the sofware, we need to repeat the problem here and know what is the software problem.
