Hi Folks - new to the whole eprom scene. I have a 512kbyte .bin I need to write to a 27C4096 eprom.
I am not entirely certain how to fit the adapter onto the GQ-4x4. When I have the bottom pins touch the bottom of the adapter (leaving the top two empty) writes fail immediately.
When I have it in the middle - the write works, but then fails to verify.
if I have it at the very top (leaving the bottom two open) also fails to write.
Any ideas? This is the second computer I have tried this on as well - just in case it was the first computer.
Actually - it looks like when i load the .bin file - it won't write in any of the three positions... so - what position is correct, and any idea why writes fail completely?
So the eproms i got were Hitach 4mbit ones - and it seems like lots of people have problems with those - so I just bought some AMD ones.... hopefully those work better.
But - I still have the question - how does the adapter sit in the ZIF socket? It can sit three ways - all the way at the top (top=lever), in the middle, or all the way at the bottom.
This is probably very self evident to other folks - but I can't find any documentation on this!
Great - what about how the adapter sits in the main socket? There are 3 positions it can be. I assume that pin 1 is the upper right and I align it to the top, but not sure.

Generally adapters align with the bottom pins of the programmer unless otherwise noted in the adapter or device location section.
