Just recently bought a True USB Willem GQ-X3 for some flashing needs and I seemed to have stumbled upon a roadblock. I have been trying to read from a PLCC SST 39sf040 70-4I-NH with the plcc32 to dip32 adapter. Upon starting usbprg2.0 it stalls and then becomes unresponsive in both vista and windows xp on different chipsets. I have been successful with other chips such as some tsop and 1 plcc chip I have, so the programmer does function correctly.

The chip need to be removed from ZIF when software starting up.

Only put the chip in ZIF socket after software initialized the programmer and selected the chip type.

Or release the ZIF handle if the chip in the ZIF socket during the software starting time.

ZLM, thank you very much for your input. This method does work. Part of this method crossed my mind but I really didn't feel comfortable putting the chip in while it was running, but hearing it from you seems to sound ok.
