Hi,

I was wondering if there is any way for the GQ-4X to program the Intel E28F008SA flash part. I already have the 40 pin TSOP adapter, and I am able to program the AMD 29F080B parts just fine, and these AMD parts have the identical pinout as the Intel 28F008SA. However, the Intel part requires a 12V VPP whereas the AMD parts require no VPP (that pin is a NC on the AMD part). In addition, it appears that the programming algorithm is slightly different, but I didn't look too closely at that.

Is there any way for the GQ-4X to work with this part? Can the devices.txt file be modified for this?

Thanks again for a wonderful EPROM programmer at a wonderful price!

Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately, that doesn't work. I copied the line exactly as you have it here in the forum into the devices.txt file, and here are the results:

1. When I try to read the ID it reports a value of 8989 (should be 89a2)

2. If I try to read or write or blank check the device, it warns that the device ID is wrong, this time it reports a device ID of 89AA.

3. I am able to read the part just fine.

4. Erase fails. I get a message that says the erase operation is not supported on this device, sometimes it just hangs.

5. Write operations fail.

Any ideas what to try next?

Thanks immensely for your help.

Try this line:

Name="E28F008SA",ID="89A2",Class="INTEL28F800BX-B",Category="FLASH",MFG="INTEL",DIP="100011110101",Adapter="TSOP40B-D
IP32",RVPP="5V",EVPP="12V";
