Posted - 11/24/2015 : 21:39:54 Hi Forum, Can anyone tell me if an Altera EPM7128E can be read on a GQ-4X4 using an ADP 095 adapter? Getting "data File not loaded into buffer" error when attempting ID operation. Device is listed as compatible with programmer. Thanks, |

No where that I've found is there NO Reference that you CANNOT Read a chip from a JTAG interface.....
And Also... There is NO Reference to what type of files should be loaded into the JTAG interface in order to properly Write to the JTAG interface.....
Why should it say so in the user guide?
If you do not know which file type should be used I wouldn't want you near my chips. |

Both of us asked if it could read, and you answer a question that hasn't been asked yet!
Yes Or No..... Does the GQ-4x4 Support Reading the chips indicated from the adapters indicated in this thread?
You revived this discussion and scabxg asked for suggestions… CPL and CPLD devices have hardware copy protection mechanisms. Like I said before there is other ways to reverse engineer those chips.
So, you hijack a thread without reading it first? Please read reply number 1, ZLM already answered your question in 2015.
As you may know JAM Player was created by Altera so you can go complain to them.
You may also note that JTAG was not created for reading a device. Have look here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JTAG#Storing_firmware

Posted - 12/01/2015 : 13:33:48 Thanks ZLM looks like we will not be able check if cpld is protected,, let alone able to read cpld info,,, Oh well ! ( they are out of a TX control unit which is no longer supported,,, " lightning damage " we do have other units in service so was hoping to possibly copy chip info but No ! )
Thanks again Cheers |

Posted - 11/26/2015 : 11:50:45 This programmer can write the Altera CPLD chip via JTAG. So, check your chip, if it has JTAG pins, then it can be programmed by GQ-4x4 programmer. Not not read. |

Posted - 11/25/2015 : 19:06:00 Thanks ZLM, Is there any way we can read / write to EPM7128E with this programmer? If not, any other suggestions? |

Posted - 11/25/2015 : 10:29:54 The programmer JTAG programming via a JTAG JAM Player engine. It only for programming, not for reading.
So, it does not support reading chip content.
