The programmer needs a service. The 2048 ZIF socket is removable, you can try to remove the ZIF and then put it back again. This will reduce the contact issue between PCB and ZIF socket. If th problem exist, then the programmer need to be repaired.

I have the same issue. I just purchased a new TOP2005 programmer about a week ago. It worked fine for a few days and I programmed a few SST27SF512 and DS1230Y. After a few days I could not program or read any chips. I get a "no chip placed!" error for the SST27SF512 and "no connected pins (red)" with a few pins in red and a few in green for the DS1230Y and AT29C256.

It is trange that this happened so quickly with a new programmer.

How do I go about getting it serviced and is that something I can do myself?

Send it back to the seller or factory for the one year factory warranty.
