Hi,
Does the Enhanced Willem can deliver more than 5v? I tried to program many chips since I have it and the only thing that want to be burned is a Microchip EEPROM and a 27C256.
Those one didn't work at all:
PIC16F84A
PIC12C508A
2764(x2)
27128
I can only read the 2 last ones.

Thanks.

All chips you have should be supported on this programmer.

Make sure you set the DIP correctly and select the correct special chip LED.

The Vcc is fixed on this programmer since it uses USB DC power.

The on board DC/DC step up circuit if for Vpp(12V,15V,21V,25V) .

If you would like to go 6V Vcc, you may use an external regulated DC supply. Remember: it must be regulated, otherwise your board will be DAMAGED.

No, it is definetely not working. I have Windows XP and I installed all the DLportIO crap, tried all the parallel port modes and it definetely not working. The hardware test is positive. I tried it on another PC, with Windows XP, no DLportIO and it worked immediately. Perhaps a parallel port buffer could work?

Some printer ports do not provide enough DC current to drive the programmer. Especially on laptop. You said it works on other PC, then this may be the case you have.

Hi Backbiter17,

Are you able to program the 2 chips of AM29F040B-90PC (DIP Type) and AM29F040B-90JI (PLCC Type)? I have so much trouble to program this one with my newly bought Enhanced Willem Programmer from MCUMall. I can get ID, read, erase, and blank check, but not writing to this chip. I always get the error message during or right after writing. Error message is as:

Error at 0x040000 Chip = 0x24 buffer = 0xE7

Another time of error is as:

Error at 0x00240D Chip = 0xCF buffer = 0xFF

It's quite disappointing with this Enhenced Willem Programmer, i just can't do anything about it. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Axon

backbiter17, Good try. I believe PLCC and DIP should be same.

Axon, You may need to check if your chip been protected.

Hi Backbiter17 and USB,

Thank you for your promt replies, guys! Both types of my chips (AM29F040B-90PC DIP and AM29F040B-JI PLCC-32pins) are "unprotected" ones, with the following Electronic ID:

Manufacture: 0x01 AMD
Device Code: 0xA4 AM29F040 die 98403/6
0x00002: 0x00 Sector Unprotect
Die: 0x01 98406 and 98403

I tried your way, Backbiter17, but can't install that SW 97_g version for erasing 29f040, it always gives me an error installation as > Access Violation at Address 00000000 Read of address 00000000.

I tried SW 97ja for programing that PLCC-32pins chip and i chose "Flash 39SF/49Fxxx" option as you said but it gives me this error constantly as:
Error at 0x040000 Chip = 0xE6 buffer = 0x19

Even at the "29F040" option from "Flash 29Fxxx" choice, i got error:
Error at 0x040000 Chip = 0xA6 buffer = 0x19

I am wondering whether we can use/do something with the option down the programming menu of SW97-ja which has the "Unprotect 29F0x0" choice > AMD > AM29F040 die 98403/6
> AM29F040 die 98401
but i don't know how to go from here, this interface is a bit confusing for me lol <--- really dumb and no knowledge in electronics.

Anything else i need to try/do, guys? Your help is always appreciated, and thank you very much in advance, Backbiter17 and USB.

Regards,
Axon

For Re0.97i+ or Reo.97g software installation,
you may need install port95nt.exe in order to work on Win2000/XP
http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/mcumall_download.asp

The unprotect feature in 0.97ja is not for all 29f040B chips. Also, it is only can be done on a special version of programmer board. It's not for Enhanced programmer.

Do you have an old printer? Hook that up to the parallel port, just to see if your parallel port works at all. :)

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
