Hi, having had a Willem dual power programmer( see forum under novice 2716 on page 4 ) that never did what they said it would do. Even after modifications to the power supply buy a knowledge person from the forum it failed to support 2716, 2732, 2764 as I originally needed it for.
I see over time that some of these issues may have been solved. I'm considering the True-USB Willem GQ-3X as it shows support for the 2716 up to 25vpp. Can anyone whom has bought the GQ-3X verify that it will handle the 2716, 2732 etc. These chips are used in the older pinball and arcade games.I have an external power source good up to 25v that was bought for the last programmer. I would rather put my money into having someone burn me the chips required than have another paper weight.
Thanks
Mark Leigh

The GQ-3X is tested on 2716,2732 EPROMs. It is confirmed. If the unit does not work, then you can return for exchange or refund.

Bought the GQ-3X because it is supposed to support the 2716, 2732 eproms. Tried reading 3 new(blank) 2716a eproms to confirm they were blank. The programmer would not read or blank check any of the 2716 or a 2732. The green and red leds are showing power and vcc when reading. I then tried several 2716/2732 eproms which have data on them, it would not read these either. I then used the external power supply( 9vdc/500ma ) and managed to finally read these chips with limited success. I find this to be a red flag as I shouldn't need an external power supply to read/blank check. The message comes up when 2716(device) is selected " an external power supply required to write ". Now lets try a write (not likely). The programmer will not write(all 3 leds on) to either a 2732 or the 3 2716s with the external power supply in place. After the loading of the buffer, write(twice) and verify these chips still show blank. Whats up with that? I'm not very happy about this purchase, there seems to be a problem with the programmer, as I'm using the latest software from MCUmall.

The 2716 and 2732 are confirmed supported device.

It seems something wrong with the programmer. if it does not work on those chips.

Contact support@mcumall.com and then send the programmer back for the exchange.
