Hi, I just got the dual power willem programmer. I started out by reading some of my existing eproms and it works fine for reading. I cannot get it to burn though. I have tried three different erased chips and none of them will take the burn. The programmer verifies that the chip is blank. I tried cleaning the pins with alcohol too. It keeps giving me the same error @ Ox000000 Chip=0xFF buffer=0xC2 I have set the VPP to 21V and even tried 25V, but neither worked. The VCC is at 5V (I also tried 5.6) and I have the dip switches set to the 2732 with 7,8,9 as the only ones on. I have tried using the USB power and a generic 12V adapter and neither seems to work. I have tried a few other bin files with the same problem. Anyone have an idea of what can be wrong? I have read all the other 2732 posts and tried all that advice. Thanks in advance. James |

I have done the hardware test and in the beginning I was not getting any voltage out of the VPP. VCC=4.85 when usb power connected, VCC=4.77 when a 12v power supply hooked up. 4.21V on the rest of the pins for the test.
I then pushed on all the chips on the board and I started getting a reading of 6.35V on the VPP. I have tried setting the jumpers to 25V and I get the same 6.35V out of the VPP. What should I check next? With only 6 volts, no wonder I am not programming the 2732a when I need 21V. Any help appreciated. TIA, James |

It seems your programmer lost Vpp. Check voltage on the top right D7's negtive pin side, if it does not out Vpp voltage, then the MC34063 may got some problem. Other wise check the jumper and the DIP switch. |

Hi, I removed the MC34063 and put it back in and did it many more times and I am able to get it to 8.5 volts. Changing the jumpers does not seem to change the voltage. At least I was able to get 2 more volts, but we are not close to 21V. I then took all the other IC's out, one at a time, but of course that did not help. Should I ask for another MC34063? Or is there other issues? Later, James |

The MC34063 should be OK since it still does DC step up function. There may be some other component caused the Vpp out put drop. Such as ON/OFF transister bad or capacitor shorted circuit internally. If any of those component got hot, then just replace it. |
