I just got the TOP 2005 Programmer. The install with the included software is garbage...downloaded the new code from this site. All seems to be working - thanks for being here !!

I am sure I am not doing something right and I will apologise up front for being a total noob at this.

So far I believe I have managed to successfully read a EPROM that I want to duplicate. It is a 27C256 Eprom. I saved the file to my hard drive.

1st question: My chip has a sticker on it that reads Checksum CB15. Where in this software am I supposed to see this ?

I am now dropping in a 27C512 in the burner. I know that I need to do an offset to make this larger chip suitable however I just tried to do a straight write and am getting errors when trying to burn it.

2nd question: What am I doing wrong to get these errors ???

I tried a basic read on a blank 27c512 - got back all FC FF's then I did a write of an empty file and it burnt nicely.

I load up the aforementioned file - and try and burn that (on another new chip)- same errors.

After read your 27C256, you need to change the device type to 27C512 from the software.

Hey Thanks for your question and reply jay & ZLM. I downloaded the update for my top2005 after reading your messages and it is a real help. You gave a good jump start in how to program my EPPROMs
