I set it for AM29 and 5V, then I read, and I get all FFs.
Any idea? |

yes, it can erase but not all data (only data where pin has correct connection).
Do you have right orientation (pin1 of chip to pin1 of adapter?)
Try a little bend the pins. Chip ID must be correctly readed. |

Yes from a working Transmission Control Unit from BMW.
Would the programmer erase the code in the unit if no contact? |

you chip/adapter has wrong orientation or chip has bad connection between pins and adapter.
