Line should be:
Name="W25Q64FVSIG",ID="EF6017",Class="W25X10",Category="SERIAL_EPROM",MFG="Winbond",Vcc="3.6V",CodeSize="8388608",Adapter="ADP-081, ADP-027 adapter";
Can you ID the chip correctly? |

You have a Chinese fake. The chip is simply relabeled. |

Hi...I am a new user here.What I want to ask you is when you had the EEPROM chip out of the motherboard did you replace it with an IC socket? Anytime I remove a chip for service or repair, I always replace it with a IC socket, if it did not already originally have one. This prevents heat from damaging the IC chip and also prevents further damage from being done to the circuit board by adding and removing questionable parts. It also limits the amount of ESD damage.

No, it may introduce more failure points and cause reliability problems unless you know you will need to change the chip often...
You can also work in-circuit or use proper soldering techniques and equipment.
Correct ESD precautions is good practice but those chips are not ESD sensitive and a socket provides no ESD protection... |
